Man, where do I even begin with Sarah + Kevin’s adventure elopement. They had a perfect summer day in Acadia National Park filled with a special ceremony site, a little hike, and a cruise around the islands of Maine at sunset. Everything about their day shouted love, joy and happiness and I’m so excited to share it with you in hopes that it can give you the courage to have the adventure elopement of your dreams!

When Sarah first reached out to me, we hopped on a phone call and I instantly knew they were a great fit. Sarah was like an old friend that called me up and we chatted like we were just catching up and she spilled all the beans on what she imagined her elopement to be like. She had a vision of it being a day that was a complete reflection of her and Kevin and was so excited to have this experience. We chatted about our dogs, she told me about the leather jacket she was making, how much she loved her dress, and how much she loved Kevin and was ready to do the thang.

As we moved forward with working together, we started planning their day. I gave them some recommendations for ceremony locations and some other spots around the island that they might want to explore. I mentioned that a private sunset cruise around the islands might be something they’d love, as they grew up in Maryland and loving the water, and it would be a good way to have some time to themselves (and me as the third wheel obvi) before heading to dinner with their family.

So that’s how the day went! We met up at their ceremony location and they had a first look, and then we headed down the beach for their ceremony. It was a bright and sunny day, and you could hear the waves crash along the stones of the beach. We did a few family photos there, and then parted ways with their family so that we could do a few portraits at their ceremony site.

The three of us hopped in my car and we headed to the other side of the island, for a little hike that I’d been dying to share with a couple! After some exploring of that trail, we headed to the marina to hop on their boat! As it turns out, the sailboat was having engine issues, so the company wasn’t able to take them out on a sailing cruise, but instead put them on a motor boat, which turned into a super cool nature cruise of sorts. The captain drove them around to a bunch of little islands, showing them off to the seal colonies, bald eagles, dolphins + porpoises and a salmon farm. He shared stories of the islands + the local area as Sarah + Kevin enjoyed some beers + snacks.

They got engaged at Bass Harbor Lighthouse, so he drove them past the lighthouse at sunset for a sweet little moment. Clearly one major thing was missing from their day which we had to take care of as soon as we got off the boat - CHAMPAGNE!

They popped some champagne, had a last little moment, and we hopped back into the car to head to Gaylns - a restaurant in Bar Harbor where they had dinner with their family. They were sweet enough to invite me, which gave me the opportunity to meet + chat with their family a bit more! It’s clear that these two are obsessed with each other and are surrounded by so much love and support.
