James + Melanie’s elopement day in Acadia National Park this fall was intimate, special and full of beauty! We hit the park just after peak foliage, giving us gorgeous tree color. Those deep earthy tones that nature provides is one of my favorite things about being an elopement photographer and this day was full of em!

James + Melanie were in Acadia National Park for Melanie to run her FOURTH marathon in Bar Harbor the following day. Talk about a weekend! Getting married AND running 26.6 miles in the span of 24 hours?! Badass.

They had their ceremony at one of my favorite little hidden gems of Acadia, a beach tucked off the road with beautiful stones, a horseshoe shape and stunning views. Their ceremony was short and very sweet, with tears and a clear feeling of love in the air. After their ceremony, the popped some champagne to celebrate being MARRIED!

We took a few portraits around their ceremony spot where they totally killed it, and then headed across the island for a hike that was new to me! This is one of my new favorites in Acadia - this hike was absolutely stunning, relatively easy, very few people and views of the entire area + islands surrounding Mt. Desert Island.

We took portraits along the way, finding gorgeous foliage and fall colors at every corner we turned, and before finally making it to the top which held a panoramic view of what felt like all of Maine! They danced their first dance, took in the fall breeze, and we were surprised with a gorgeous sunset.

On our way back down the other side of the mountain, we found another spot that was just GORGEOUS. This hike seemed to get more and more beautiful the further we went. The sun was just about under the horizon but we shot until we couldn’t shoot any more, embracing all of the warm + golden + red hues around us.

This day was perfect. Simple, intentional, slow paced with time to soak it all in, enjoy the park, and enjoy the day that they committed to the rest of forever with each other. Magic if you ask me!
