Adventure Elopement in Acadia National Park
Amy + Anthony’s adventure elopement in Acadia National Park was one of those experiences that felt so intentional and deeply them, in the best way! These two traveled up from the Boston area for a two-day elopement, just the two of them, and decided to do something a little different. Instead of splitting their time between guests and alone time (which is super common for two-day elopements), they chose to make both days entirely theirs! No guests. No obligations. Just two days of adventure, connection, and a whole lot of Maine magic!!
Day 1: Adventure Together
E-Biking the Carriage Roads
Day one was all about adventure. We kicked things off by renting bikes and cycling the historic carriage roads in Acadia during peak foliage. If you’ve ever been there in the fall, you know how unreal it is! Golds, oranges, and reds wrapping around every turn of the road, reflective ponds, and mountain views popping out all around you - it’s magic!
Maine Oyster Farm Kayak Tour
After biking, we headed to the beach to meet up with Maine State Kayak + E-Bike for a guided kayaking experience that honestly felt straight out of a movie. We paddled out to an oyster farm (Bar Harbor Oyster Co.) floating in the middle of the water, learned all about the oyster farming process, and then tasted fresh oysters from our kayaks. SO FUN!
Golden Hour Beach Campfire and Hot Toddies
We kayaked back toward shore as the sun dipped lower in the sky, golden hour lighting up the water around us. The final hour of daylight was spent exactly how Amy + Anthony love to spend time together: a Solo Stove fire on the beach, hot toddies in hand, and a good view. It was cozy, quiet, and very much so “them”. The perfect way to end the first day of their adventure elopement in Acadia!
Day Two: Elopement Day
Pre Ceremony Forest Picnic
Day two brought the mention of rain, but honestly? It only added to the mood! We started the morning slow, with Amy + Anthony getting ready together at their hotel.
From there, we headed to Fabbri Picnic Area for a picnic. Amy had spent weeks collecting decor and thoughtful details to create something fun for the two of them. It was beautiful AND tasty!
Coastal Elopement Ceremony
Next, we met their officiant at their ceremony location! Surrounded by Acadia’s dramatic landscape, they shared vows, popped champagne, and soaked in the misty moody scenery and it was absolutely perfect!
Post Ceremony Hike
After the ceremony, we made our way to Beech Mountain for a short hike. We were unsure if we’d even have a view up there given the weather, but they decided they wanted to go for it anyways - true adventure elopement style! They love to hike together so it only made sense to include a trail at some point within their experience! At the top, we were indeed met with stunning views! They shared a drink and watched the clouds swirl and dance around the mountain as the storm rolled closer.
Lobster Rolls at Beals
We ended the day, and the entire elopement, at Beal’s Lobster Pier! A personal favorite of mine on Mount Desert Island! Naturally, they dug into lobster rolls and blueberry pie - a very Maine ending to a very intentional, joy filled celebration!
Two Day Adventure Elopement in Acadia
Amy + Anthony’s two-day adventure elopement is a perfect example of how powerful it can be to design your wedding experience entirely around you. Every choice reflected their relationship, from biking and kayaking to fires on the beach and sharing drinks on a mountain. It wasn’t about a timeline or expectations, it was about presence and doing what felt right to them!
If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to truly make your elopement about the two of you, this is it. Acadia showed up in all its moody, magical glory and Amy + Anthony soaked up every second together.
