Engagement Photos in Shenandoah National Park
There’s something about Shenandoah National Park that invites you to slow down, breathe deeper, and just be. And that’s exactly what Jordan and Cody did when they drove up from Virginia Beach for their engagement photos! This was a fun, adventurous session — joined, of course, by their two golden retrievers, Sunny and Moose, who completely stole the show!
We had originally planned for a sunrise session, but the weather had other plans. And honestly? The change of plans might’ve been a blessing in disguise. We had fun, dynamic light, and the park almost entirely to ourselves!
Jordan and Cody were the kind of couple who immediately rolled with it. Laid-back, down for anything, and clearly so in love—both with each other and their dogs. Duh!
Engagement Photos in the Forest
We started our morning on a quiet, forested trail. We had the trail to ourselves, minus a few resident deer! We explored along the trail, tooks some photos on some cool stone steps, and got them feeling comfy in front of the camera. They were absolute naturals (Cody being a photographer himself!) and we were flowing in no time!
Big Meadows Engagement Session
Then it was time to bring out the big energy—Sunny and Moose were ready! We headed to Big Meadows, where the pups could get some energy out and explore to their hearts’ content. Watching Jordan and Cody run through the fields with their dogs—laughing, getting tugged in every direction, completely in the moment—was pure joy. These two clearly treat their dogs like family, and the love between all four of them was so fun to capture.
Shenandoah Mountain Overlooks
From there, we made a few stops at some nearby overlooks. The spring blooms were just starting to come through, yet the air had that crisp edge that makes you want to stay wrapped up close. We found a wide open field near the edge of one overlook and let them (Cody and Jordan 😉) run free! We ended the session at one final overlook, where the views were absolutely stunning. Rolling ridges fading into the distance, dramatic skies, and the two of them tucked into each other, taking it all in. The kind of moment that makes you feel like the rest of the world is standing still.
Shenandoah Engagement Photos
Jordan and Cody’s session was so laid back, energetic and fun. Shenandoah National Park gave us a little bit of everything that day: foggy forests, wide open meadows, mountain views, and space to just be and celebrate them!
