Two Day Wedding in Acadia National Park
Two day elopements and weddings are exactly what they sound like - double the fun! While there’s no one right or wrong way to structure a two day celebration, a common way that my couples will often do it is to have a day for themselves, and a day to celebrate with guests. This is exactly what Armie and Rachel decided to do, and it couldn’t have been more fun!
There’s something so special about setting aside a full day, just the two of you, before celebrating with your favorite people. To be able to spend true quality time together the entire day before you get married. Focused on exploring the beautiful place you’re in and being able to be fully present with your person. What a perfect way to kick off your wedding celebration!
Being in Acadia in early October, we were met with stunning scenery and so much to explore. So on day one, Rachel, Armie and I hit Acadia and made the most out of everything it has to offer. The following day, they had their ceremony in the park, photos with friends, and a reception celebration at Sweet Peas - all of which you can see here!
But for now, let’s chat about day one of this two day wedding adventure in Acadia National Park!
Acadia Wedding Weekend First Look
I met Rachel at her beautiful Airbnb in downtown Bar Harbor, where she was getting ready with her family. We had planned to do a first look in the park, so while we wrapped up getting ready with Rachel, Armie headed over to one of my favorite quiet gems in the park- Schooner Head. The cliffs, the ocean mist, the rustling trees—everything felt cinematic. When Rachel walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder, it was pure magic. Tears, laughter, long hugs. You could feel how rooted and steady their love was in that moment.
Private Vows in Acadia National Park
From there, we made our way to a tucked-away spot along Ocean Path for their private vow exchange. We found a quiet spot on the big coastal rocks where the waves crashed below them. Rachel and Armie shared their vows, taking their time and taking in everything around them. No audience, no performance, just the two of them promising forever and being present together.
Once they had finished their vows we headed toward our next location, making a quick stop at one of the classic Acadia carriage road bridges!
Ocean, Forests, and Foliage
Next up: we walked out to a hidden cove beach, and had completely to ourselves! Rachel and Armie explored, played, and danced around on the rocks together. It was a dream!! This is one of, if not my favorite, locations in the park, and it was so fun to get to share in the beauty with them! After leaving the cove, we made another quick stop at a beautiful fall foliage trail, to take in the stunning colors and changes in the leaves that Acadia is so well known for this time of year!
Sunset Mountain Hike
For the final adventure of the day, we made our way to Beech Mountain for a sunset hike! At the summit, we took some stunning sunset portraits—but that wasn’t the end. We stayed after dark, waiting for that deep, moody night to settle in. Armie had been especially excited about this part: lantern portraits on the mountain! After making our way back down the mountain in the dark, Rachel and Armie headed off to get some rest and prepare for their big celebration with family the next day.
On To Day Two of this Acadia Wedding!
This day—the one just for them—was an incredible first part to their two day wedding in Acadia. A day where time slowed down, the forest stood still, and they got to fully feel the weight and joy of what they were stepping into.
Now head over to day two of their two day wedding in Acadia, where we dive into their Acadia ceremony with their loved ones and how they blended adventure and community into a beautiful celebration!
