Summer Adventure Elopement in Grand Teton National Park

Sydney and Jared traveled all the way from Maryland with one goal in mind: to turn their wedding day into an experience that actually felt like them! After nine years together, they weren’t interested in a traditional wedding, and they wanted something intentional, outdoorsy, and filled with adventure. When we started talking about what mattered most to them - mountains, water, and a hint of western vibes - Grand Teton National Park quickly rose to the top as the perfect fit!

And it delivered on every single one of those things for their summer adventure elopement.

Getting Ready for their Adventure Elopement

Their day began on the quieter Idaho side of the Tetons, in a beautiful Airbnb near Victor and Driggs, just over Teton Pass. This side of the range always feels a little more tucked away with less hustle, more space to breathe, and hints at the tops of the Tetons from the backside! It made it the perfect setting for a relaxed start to their day.

Sydney and Jared got ready together, easing into the morning without any rush. I captured detail photos, candid moments, and all those in-between interactions that often end up meaning the most. It felt calm, grounded, and exactly how a wedding morning should feel!

Elopement Ceremony at the Wedding Tree

From their Airbnb, we made our way to one of the most unique ceremony spots in the area: the Wedding Tree.

Tucked into national forest land, the Wedding Tree is known for its natural archway of branches framing the Tetons in the distance. It’s simple, wild, and incredibly beautiful in that understated way that doesn’t need anything extra. Thousands of couples have been married here overlooking the mountains, and it feels like such a special place.

Sydney and Jared exchanged vows here, just the two of them surrounded by the mountains. It was the kind of ceremony that feels less like a production and more like a moment you actually get to live inside.

Hiking to Taggart Lake

After their ceremony, we headed into the park to continue the adventure. One of the things Sydney and Jared were most excited about was incorporating a hike into their wedding day, so we made our way to Taggart Lake.

The trail to Taggart Lake is one of those hikes that gives you a little bit of everything from forest, open views, and eventually, that incredible lake with the Tetons rising behind it.

We took our time on the trail, stopping often to explore, take photos, and just let the day unfold naturally. At the lake, they dipped their feet in the water - a must! It didn’t feel rushed or overly structured, it felt like a real experience, which is exactly what they wanted.

Western Vibes at Mormon Row

From the lake, we shifted gears slightly and leaned into those classic western landscapes the Tetons are known for. We stopped at Mormon Row Historic District, where the iconic barns sit against the backdrop of the mountains.

This spot always brings such a different energy - open fields, rustic textures, and that timeless Wyoming feel. Sydney and Jared explored the area together while I documented it all!

Sunset at Schwabacher Landing

We wrapped up the outdoor portion of the day at Schwabacher Landing for sunset.

It’s one of the more popular spots in the park, especially in the summer, but even with the crowds, we were able to find pockets of space where it felt like it was just the two of them. The still water, the reflections of the Tetons, and that soft evening light created the kind of atmosphere that’s hard to put into words but easy to feel.

It was the perfect way to close out their time in the park.

A Private Chef Elopement Dinner

Instead of heading to a crowded restaurant or hosting a reception, Sydney and Jared chose something far more intimate to end their wedding day. We made our way back to their Airbnb, where a private chef prepared a multi-course dinner just for them (and they included me, which was incredibly kind!).

After a full day of exploring, hiking, and celebrating, it gave them the chance to sit down, relax, and really take it all in. There’s truly no better way to end an adventure elopement day than showing up to your Airbnb, getting cozy, and having an incredible, multi-course dinner presented to you.

A Full Day Adventure Elopement Experience

Sydney and Jared’s wedding day wasn’t built around traditions, it was built around intention. From getting ready in a quiet mountain town, to exchanging vows beneath the Wedding Tree, hiking to an alpine lake, exploring historic barns, and ending with sunset and a private dinner - it was a full-day experience that felt meaningful from beginning to end.

This is what a summer adventure elopement in Grand Teton National Park can look like: immersive, flexible, and completely centered around what matters most to you.

If you’re dreaming about a wedding day that feels more like an experience than an event, the Tetons are a place that makes that incredibly easy to bring to life. Reach out below and let’s get the conversation started!
